The fantastic four | AW16 trends

Every season, we are given a bunch of new (or sometimes not so new) trends for us to decide whether we want to follow or ditch them. With so many options, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and end up ignoring all of those new styles while you put on a pair of jeans that you've been keeping for +10 years. So, in order to avoid that and keep up with the fast-changing fashion world, here's a top four of the trends that we'll be seeing in the upcoming months. Grab a notebook and your purse and start working on that autumn/winter wishlist.

- Sky getaway. During the hotter months we've been seeing a lot of sporty chic looks, but now that the cold is on its way that trend evolves into what we call après-ski. The key pieces? Anoraks, chunky boots, cozy sweaters and thick trousers. Sporty vibes combined with chic fabrics create the perfect "from the mountain to the city" outfits to ensure comfort and style at once.

- Black Swan. In a world of skinny jeans and mini skirts, having the chance to wear flowy midi dresses is like a Heaven's gift, which is why the ballerina trend is hitting the spot right now. With tulle and silk being the main characters, freedom of movements is guaranteed. Those light fabrics come mostly in nude shades, but some houses like Valentino offer beautiful golden dresses, and there's even room for black if you prefer to go to the darker side of them all.

- Very Victorian. 2016 has been a very Shakespearean year, so it's not socking that designers rely on British history to find inspiration. Even if there are a couple of centuries between the famous playwright and Queen Victoria's reign, fashion didn't change that much for our millennial eyes. Ruffles, high necks (or what we now call chokers instead), thick materials like velvet and brocades are a must in this trend. It may not be the most wearable one, but if you take out a few excesive details here and there you can be a 19th century lady for the night.

- Pure lingerie. Going out in your bedwear might not be the most clever choice in November if you want to avoid catching a cold, but if you pair your silk nightgown with an oversize coat things change. This is probably the most elegant trend out of the four, perfect for evening events or dinner dates. And if you want to make it daytime appropriate, put a basic t-shirt or a thin sweater under those spaghetti straps like a good ol' 90s kid would.
