Five fashion stories
One of the best things about fashion advertising is that creatives have a lot of freedom to express what they want. Thanks to that, they stay away from informative and boring campaigns to build characters and tell stories around the concept of the collection, which results into whole universes of beautiful clothes and what's behind them.
The new season has already given us a hint of what's coming next, so here's a selection of what brands are doing to show us their creations.
- RED Valentino. Birdy and Olivia Bee have teamed up to create an oniric and surrealistic film for Valentino's young line. Glitter, colored lights, chandeliers... All the elements are perfectly combined with Birdy's voice to give live to a magical campaign.
- Orla Kiely. A (rather strange) playground is Orla Kiely's choice to present her spring-summer collection. The colourful scenery makes a perfect match with the summery dresses and funky prints, all of it topped with 70's inspired bags and platform shoes.
- Bimba & Lola. The Spanish brand have allied with the American painter Kelly Beeman to illustrate their new accessorie line for this summer: #Thisisgreek. Inspired by the Hellenistic culture and contemporary muses, they have conceived a series of collages and paintings filled with geometrical prints and (divine) bags.
- Mulberry. This is Mulberrry's first campaign since Johnny Coca became creative director back in 2015. Even though it doesn't show much, it's enough to see that photographer Coco Capitán and stylist Katy England have managed to capture the brand's essence with that British punk rock touch.
- Kling. Snapchat is definitely the queen app right now, and Kling now that. Using that as a reference and adding a few touches of pastel colours and glitter, their new video is an ode to the 2000's and manga, a combination that results into a kawaii and colourful video, just like the brand's clothes.
